Australia’s Climate Change minister Greg Combet is in Beijing today for an update on China’s planned emissions trading scheme. China is aiming for a 40-45% cut in green house emissions by 2020.
China’s scheme is expected to be in place within four years, but it’s still uncertain which industries will be included and how it will effect Australia.
Mr Combet has also met with renewable energy companies during his visit to discuss trade with Australia.
